Dr. James Hilton (Jimmy)
Pastor
Pastor Jimmy Hilton is committed to giving people encouragement and hope about the daily problems of life, and to affirm them, as valuable human beings that God loves, wants to redeem, and use in a special and significant way. He desires for people to be confronted with the truth of the gospel of Jesus Christ, and to realize that there will be a wonderful change in their lives once they are committed to Him.

Having served as a pastor for over 29 years, Jimmy received a Bachelor of Arts from the University of South Carolina in 1974, then went on to received a Master of Divinity from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in 1977 and completed his Doctor of Ministry from Columbia Theological Seminary in 1986.

Jimmy enjoys sports, walking, reading and his favorite food is chocolate – of any kind.
His wife Pamela (Pam) teaches high school English and is active in the church and is a very strong supporter of Jimmy. They have a son, Lance, and daughter, Lauren, both of whom are graduates of the University of South Carolina.

Frank Justice
Minister of Music and Worship

 

Frank is committed to facilitating exaltation of the Lord Jesus Christ through music ministry teams and, by example, leading the congregation to Worship the Lord in spirit and in truth.  He welcomes all who have interests in music, drama, technology, and who believe that South Point is where God has led you to exalt and praise His name.

For over 20 years, Frank has served in music ministry.  He received a Junior College Degree with music emphasis from Brevard College and a Bachelor of Science with a Major in Music Merchandising from Appalachian State University in 1987.  Frank also attended Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary before accepting his first ministry position.

Frank enjoys spending time with his wife and sons as well as involvement in the community.  His wife, Rita, teaches 4th grade at Belmont Central Elementary School and is active in the choir and the church.  They have three sons, James, Joshua, and Jacob.

AJ Main
Minister to Students

AJ is committed to loving and encouraging your students in a way that they will develop a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.  He builds maturity, unity, and accountability in Christ through Bible study times so that students can experience Christ daily and share Him with others.  He enlists spiritually mature adults to provide teaching, counseling, and encouragement that are age and gender appropriate.

AJ received his Bachelor of Arts from Belmont Abby College with a Major in Therapeutic Recreation and Sports Management in 1993.  He has over eight years experience as a youth minister as well as experience as an associate pastor and private school teacher.  His many talents span from establishment of curriculum for small groups to facilitating major student focused community events. 

AJ enjoys spending time regularly at the schools (such as lunch time) and after school at sporting and other activities to love, encourage and be there for your students.  You will see him regularly with his wife, Bria, and their daughter, Ayden, and son, Aaron.

Tracy Poplin
Minister to Preschoolers & Children

 

Tracy is committed to ensure your children will experience the love of Jesus Christ and grow in the wisdom and knowledge of His grace.  Her contagious personality encourages the sound of children laughing, playing, and singing as it echoes through the church.  You will know your children are loved and nurtured as Christ loves us with Tracy’s care.

Receiving her Bachelor of Arts with a Major in Communication Studies from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2002, she appeared regularly on the Dean’s list.  Tracy has talents that directly support the children’s ministry including athletics, music, creativity, and teaching.

Tracy has a heart for the family and ministering to women and mothers. She believes teaching families how to communicate with one another establishes a foundation of Christ for their children.  Her husband, Curtis, specializes in technology for the local county school system.  They have two children, Madeline & Luke.
